“The partnership between DCPS and EdBuild will quickly establish high quality community schools that support learning, while using space and capital dollars efficiently.” - Sharon Baskerville, Executive Director, DC Primary Care Association |
Our public schools need our support now more than ever. Like many urban school districts, Washington, DC schools consistently perform poorly in reading and math, with most schools (both traditional and charter public) failing to meet the requirements of the federal No Child Left Behind Act. Meanwhile, our public school facilities are old, outdated and in disrepair-a distraction to learning. As a result, our schools are failing to meet the needs of our children and communities.
While the need is stark, today there is a remarkable opportunity for meaningful change. Our citizens, superintendent, elected officials, community leaders and business leaders are all committed to improving instruction and modernizing school buildings. Together we can support our school leaders in accelerating school improvement, so that within 10 years every child in Washington, DC will receive a top-notch education at a high-performing school in a great building.
EdBuild brings the capacity and expertise to support school leaders in accelerating school improvements, both facility modernizations and academic improvements. School leaders benefit immediately from the expertise and support of EdBuild’s staff, advisers and supporters, who bring a demonstrated track record building effective partnerships with parents, community members, private sector, philanthropic sector and all levels of government to create successful outcomes for children.
